“I felt like an important VIP guest!”, said a traveller on a wine tour in Le Marche

Le Marche, on the eastern side of Italy, on the Adriatic Sea, is a treasure trove of well-hidden delicacies, both food and wine. You can find outstanding wines, often made from grape varieties that you have never heard of before: pecorino (yes, the grape, not the cheese), Montepulciano (a grape it too, not the village), rosso conero… But also trebbiano, verdicchio and sangiovese.

There are also many exciting culinary delights. How about stuffed and fried olives? More traditionally, there are delicious charcuteries and, of course, fish and seafood. The sea is never far away, although the wine regions are a little bit inland.

The landscape is hilly and lush. The wine growing is usually not as intensive as in the more famous districts, so the vineyards are mixed with other types of farming and with lush forests. The on the crests of the hills thee are often beautiful little villages and surely a few hidden-away wine producers on a street in the village.

There are (as yet) no big and famous names among the wine producers, but this will soon change. So this is a place where you can really go exploring, if you have a competent guide, and discover pearls. Something for those who do not necessarily feel a need to visit the wine world’s super-celebrities but are more interested in the ambitious and “hungry” entrepreneurs.

Here are some comments from people who have travelled with us on a wine tour in the Le Marche to discover its exciting wines and gastronomy.

On the wine tour in Le Marche:

At last a very warm thank you for a lovely tour! Many interesting wineries with great variety, from the very large to the very small, something that I particularly appreciated. All growers really shared generously their knowledge and ideas. And let us taste the most delicious wines. The lunches were delicious and enjoyable, especially the one on Madonnina del Pescatore which was also an “art” experience! In addition: I have never met a better guide than Åsa. Knowledgeable about everything about wines and about Italy and also so nice! Thank you for having me on this tour!

On the wine tour in Le Marche:

Thank you Britt and Per for a wine tour filled to the brim of experiences! Le Marche, which I had not even heard of before, was a very nice experience. Beautiful vistas and excellent wines! Åsa was, as expected, an excellent guide and a really nice person. She has the ability to explain about the tiniest detail as well as the big picture, both in an engaging and informative manner. The time we spent in the bus [with Åsa] was real highlights! The visits to the various vineyards were also very rewarding and the luxurious meal at Senegalia was sumptuous! Thank you again for the generosity. I felt like an important VIP guest! (*)
