Here, high-altitude vineyards thrive in a dry, dramatic landscape backed by the sky-scraping Andes, producing characterful wines. We’ll meet talented winemakers and savour delicious local gastronomy, including juicy asado, a variety of meats grilled over an open fire, and freshly baked empanadas. And also the most delicious fresh vegetables on the barbecue.
The truly spectacular bus journey across the Andes is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, offering breathtaking views as we cross the border into Chile. On the way, we will enjoy a special lunch at an altitude of 3000 m (9000+ feet). On the Chilean side, the landscape becomes greener and more lush, with vineyards stretching from the cool Pacific coast to the mountain foothills.
We’ll discover phenomenal cool-climate wines in Casablanca and San Antonio, and taste many examples of classic Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon in the Colchagua Valley. Not to forget Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache… Cultural highlights include the mythical port city of Valparaíso, with its incredible street art, also a must-see.
