Travel to Prosecco: bubbles, wine and gastronomy | pictures

Prosecco has become one of Italy’s most famous sparkling wines. Prosecco is located in north eastern Veneto, not far from Venice. It is also one of the stops our wine tour Bubbles of Italy: Franciacorta, Prosecco and Valpolicella, an exciting journey starting in Milan and ending in Venice. With overnight stays in Brescia, Verona, Conegliano and Venice. Busy schedule and lots of fun. It includes delicious lunches with bubbles served all through the meal and high quality valpolicella and amarone.

Prosecco has had incredible success in recent years. And the wine has developed enormously from relatively simple to today when you can find top-quality sparklers here. Today there is a wide variety of different prosecco, both in terms of style and character.

Many bottles of prosecco are made each year and the quality varies. The best is from the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene district, Prosecco Superiore DOCG. The beautiful Conegliano-Valdobbiadene region is the most respected part of Prosecco. It is a sub-district that received its DOCG, the highest Italian quality denomination, a few years ago, to distinguish it from the “common” prosecco that is a DOC.

Initially, prosecco was a fairly simple wine, floral, light and refreshing, often with some residual sweetness. As the wine became more and more popular, it has also evolved. The light style is of course still there but we can also find more serious, ambitious and high-quality variants of prosecco, dry and full-bodied.

Here are some pictures for your inspiration.
