On our wine tours we meet many winemakers and visit a lot of vineyards. It adds up to around 200-300 vineyards each year for Britt & Per, without counting those that Asa, Martin and the other do. In total we organise around 30 wine tours each year.

At some of those visits we have the time and occasion to do a quick interview with the winemakers or a reportage from the winery or the vineyard. It can be a visit to the wine cellar, a chat with the owner or winemaker or something else.

Most of our wine videos (but not quite all) have been produced on one or other of the BKWine wine tours. We hope that the videos will give you an even better insight into what you will experience when travelling on one of our wine tours and of what kind of people you will meet, winemakers and other.

On this page we have collected the travel video clips with interviews and reportage from the wine districts in South Africa: Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, the Cape Peninsula, Constantia, Paarl…

Steenberg Vineyards, South Africa, interview with John Loubser

Interview with John Loubser, general manager at the Steenberg Vineyards Winery in Constantia on the Cape peninsula in South Africa.

Steenberg means Stone Mountain. The reason is obvious when you come here: you are surrounded by stones and mountains, granite stone mountain. This soil gives fantastic sauvignon blanc wines with lots of minerality. They also have sandy soil, loam and other terroir, but all originates from the granite. Steenberg is a very old farm that dates back to 1682. It was actually the first winemaking farm in the Constantia Valley.

Ntsiki Biyela winemaker at Stellekaya in Stellenbosch

An interview with the winemaker at the Stellenbosch winery Stellekaya, Ntsiki Biyela. She is one of the very few black women wine makers in South Africa, perhaps even the first. The winery is close to the town Stellenbosch which is also the name of the wine region. The vineyards are quite a bit a way from winery. The name Stellekaya means home of the stars. Most of the wines are named after astrological star constellations (Capricorn, Taurus, Scorpio, Orion etc).

More videos to come.
